Loop Dream: The Pillow

October 20269:16 · 0:262 min read

A 26-second spec ad for Loop Dream, earplugs made for sleeping. It's a twelve-shot couple sketch in one AI generation, a test of how far the model can carry two characters, a night and a morning. The idea came from the people who buy them: when your partner snores, you don't want to fix him, you just want to sleep. So he snores, she drops a pillow on his head, and he hands her the earplugs he forgot he bought.

What I did

I started with the brand's own lines: made for side sleepers, a hundred days to try them. Then I built the cast. Her and him, each on a character sheet with the face, the outfit and the back view, so they stay the same people from shot to shot. A product sheet showed the model the earplug and its case from three sides, and one bedroom in two lights, a warm lamp at night and daylight in the morning. The story runs in one generation: twelve shots with hard cuts, most of the dialogue filmed over the shoulder. The sound is only the snoring, the pillow, the drawer and the click of the case.

What I changed

The first version was only her, in the morning, telling the camera how well she slept. Watching it, I realised it was boring: the fix meant nothing without the pain. So it became a story with two people, the snoring first and the earplugs after. The first generations didn't make sense. A second bed showed up behind her, so the joke about separate bedrooms fell apart. One bed in every shot. And she wore the earplugs from the very first shot, before he had even given them to her. A rule for the earplugs: bare ears until the moment she puts them in.

What I learned

A product that appears halfway through needs a written rule for every shot before it. Show the pain before the fix, even in thirty seconds. And dialogue filmed over the shoulder keeps two faces consistent better than a two-shot.
